PROJECT DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT

In the traditional project development environment, a wide variety of tools exist for different activities that are carried out during the project life cycle. Recently there have been attempts to integrate some of these tools. However, such attempts are still in primary stages. Tools do not exist for certain activities that are vital for process maturity and through out the project life cycle, thereby increasing manual effort on them, e.g. proactive tracking of tasks, and warning appropriately. Various issues such as, interface to the configuration management (CM) tools, are mostly ignored by current family of tools.

Here is complete Solution, which addresses these issues to large extent. The project development environment (PDE – 2000) is an environment that not only provides an extremely user friendly front-end, but also a very powerful back-end that performs wide variety of functionalities for the user. The concept of Security that is introduced in this tool ensures appropriate data encapsulation for different users. Rich set of filters provides detailed analysis of the various project activities. Also introduced is the process of planning and tracking the process maturity throughout the duration of the project, with the infrastructure that embeds SEI-CMM recommendations with the project activities. The tool provides an extensive set of offerings on various activities like task scheduling, resource scheduling and leveling, and various mechanisms for tracking the project progress. In addition to all these, the test process, review process, defect tracking, effective help to user in terms of Personal software process (PSP), and a lot of features that are provided by usual contemporary tools in each of the areas also become integral part of tool. The PDE – 2000 interfaces with wide variety of CM tools, and databases that exist. And Guess what! All these features are completely configurable to suit the user needs.

ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE MANAGEMENT

Identifying new skills, behaviors and working relationships is key to the success of any implementation project. Even more critical is the ability to successfully align these desired organizational traits throughout the change effort. ennVee’s integrated change management methodology provides the framework to align people and organization changes with a new desired level of organizational performance. Although the extensive Change Management phase of our standard methodology is not within scope for this limited project, we will leverage the Organizational Change Methodology whenever possible to:

  • Develop Change Management leadership skills (facilitate communication, team development, knowledge transfer, and securing commitment to change)
  • Implement an effective communications strategy across CLIENT throughout the lifecycle of the project
  • Secure organizational buy-in to the systems implementation project and associated process and organizational changes
  • Encourage an environment which facilitates continuous improvement
BUSINESS PROCESS CHANGE METHODOLOGY

ennVee’s approach to Business Process Reengineering (BPR) emphasizes our belief that “re-engineering” is only half of the story; implementation is the other half. Although the extensive Business Process Change phase of our standard methodology has been deemed out of scope for the accelerated implementation, when required we will leverage it to:

  • Support the client and its strategic objectives
  • Identify activities that add value to client as a business
  • Minimize non-value added activities, work intelligently and efficiently, and identify alternatives for reducing the month end closing process
  • Reduce workflow complexity – when in doubt, simplify and standardize!
  • Incorporate “Better Practice” principles into client’s business, and
  • Leverage the capabilities of the Oracle software in the “To Be” process design to Optimize the investment

FACILITIES

ennVee continually invests into its infrastructure. ennVee occupies an ultra-modern office in Chennai with a total space of 10000 sq. feet, providing workplaces for 100 full-time employees.

All computers, including workstations, servers, test machines, etc. are united into a LAN secured with firewalls. Each workplace features a modern PC with up-to-date software installed. The office is connected to the Internet through redundant internet connections. ISDN channels are used for backup Internet connectivity. The facilities are equipped with modern multi-channel digital PBXs. Secured communications with the client can be organized with VPN-enabled equipment over the Internet, or direct ISDN data calls. It is also possible to install the client's communication equipment

ennVee pays a lot of attention to the hardware reliability. All servers and workstations are equipped with UPS, with maximum total power of 10kWt. As an additional safety precaution, ennVee uses independent power generators from its substations as backup in case of power failure. The wiring is divided into surge-protected and stabilized wiring for workstations and servers and regular wiring for other electric devices.
